Loox U50XNは小型ノートパソコンとしてUbuntuをインストールするパソコンとして購入しましたが、インストールに手間をかけている時間が無かったた め、結局ずっとVISTAで使用していました。Ubuntu8.10がでてしばらく経過しましたが、今回ついにUbuntuにしましたので、インストール メモを残しておきます。私が購入していたLooxU50XNは無線LANとワンセグは搭載していないモデルです。

Ubuntu8.04インストール

Ubuntu8.04は確かに動作は軽快になりました。ただ、私が購入しているモデルは無線LANを搭載していないので、LANは動作しませんでした。 LANが動作しなかったので、イーモバイルでの検証も考えましたが、やはりLANは必要という結果になり、検証はあえてしませんでした。

Ubuntu8.10インストール

Ubuntu8.10をインストールしてみると8.04と違い、有線LANなどをデフォルトで認識しましたので、指紋認証、タッチパネルも認識するのでは ないかと考え、今回の検証はUbuntu8.10について行いました。私は日本ローカライズにこだわっていませんので、あえて本家のインターナショナル版 を使用しています。また、Ubuntuのインストールについては通常通りに行なっています。

この本はUbuntu8.04時に各小型ノートにUbuntuをインストールして検証しています。私が今回使用したバージョンはUbuntu8.10であ り、かなり8.04の時に比べて改善している部分があります。他にもホームサーバーの構築術やソフトの紹介などがありますので、かなり有意義な雑誌ではな いでしょうか。780円と安価ですので、保管用に一冊いかがでしょうか。

タッチパネル認識

タッチパネルの認識については自分の場合、「joytouch」ではなく、「x-server-xorg-input-evtouch」を使用しました。 そして絶対に注意事項を読んでください。BIOSでの設定がなされていない場合には、いくら同じ事をしても、いつまでたってもタッチパネルが使用できませ ん。BIOS設定を行なった場合にはまず、パッケージインストーラーで「x-server-xorg-input-evtouch」をインストールし、そ の後「xorg.conf」をいじって再起動することで動作を確認しました。

本当はUbuntu8.10の時はXorg.confを絶対にいじってはいけない、「/etc/hal/fdi/policy/」に書き込むとかの情報 がありましたが、下記の情報をそのままコピーしたら動作しましたので、良いかどうかは知りませんが、これで良しとしましょうか。Xのアップデート更新とか で書き換えられたら多分起動しなくなるかも。

下記のxorg.confはUbuntu8.04での動作時のモノであると推測されます。まあ、あまり参考になるかわかりませんが・・・まあそれはともかく、「$sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf」で起動し、下記の無いように差し替えて、Xorgの再起動で良いと思いますが、念のためPCを再起動したところ、動作を確認しました。
